– Prepare and set up materials and equipment for practical lessons;
– Liaise with the Head of Art & DT and teachers to understand requirements and plan ahead so that resources are prepared and ready;
– Undertake regular stocktakes of materials to ensure resource levels are maintained appropriately and records kept;
– Maintain machinery, including undertaking routine repairs, to ensure it is kept in good working order;
– Along with colleagues in the department, undertake health and safety checks for all machinery, equipment and rooms across the College;
– Communicate with suppliers and the College’s Purchasing Manager with regard to ordering of supplies and resources;
– Organise the storing of resources, materials and equipment and ensure this is kept tidy and ordered;
– Provide support to students during lessons as required;
– Assist with displays of student work;
All other duties commensurate with the post.
The successful candidate will have:
– A relevant technical qualification (Diploma or Higher Certificate);
– A minimum of one year’s relevant experience, ideally gained in a school environment;
– An understanding of, and interest in, Art and DT equipment and resources, including their use and maintenance;
– Experience of supporting student learning would be an advantage;
– Excellent communications and inter-personal skills and strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage own time effectively;
– The ability to work well as part of a team, supporting colleagues in delivering exceptional teaching and providing a safe environment in the Art and DT rooms;
– An adaptable and flexible attitude, and a willingness to use initiative;
– Be physically able to work in a busy environment.
