Reports To: Principal, Vice Principal

 

Main Working Relationships: Grade Level or Subject Level Learning Lead

 

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the Supply Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and managing the learning environment. 


 

Professional Responsibilities:  (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) 

  1. Report to the Principal, Vice Principal or designee upon arrival at the school.
  2. Review with the Principal, Vice Principal or designee the plans and schedules to be adhered to during the school day.
  3. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in accordance with CIS administrative policies and divisional procedures.
  4. Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  5. Be prepared for class (all materials set up and ready for student arrival; plans readily accessible).
  6. Follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher and in doing so be actively engaged in the student’s learning.
  7. Be familiar with the safety and evacuation procedures and location of nursing stations.
  8. Interact in a professional and collaborative manner with students and parents and all school personnel.
  9. Encourage, monitor, and promote student progress.
  10. Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
  11. Assume the responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in the classroom, during lunch, activity periods, assigned supervision duties and out-of-class settings.
  12. Provide a brief report in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each day for the teacher.
  13. Secure tech devices.
  14. Lock the classroom and return the classroom key.
  15. Adhere to the established policies, regulations and code of conduct of CIS.
  16. Be punctual and dependable (be where you are expected to be, complete tasks on time;
  17. Perform other duties as required.
  18. Report to the Principal, Vice Principal or designee at the end of the school day.
     

Required Qualifications:

~ A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

~ A teaching certificate/credential is preferred for supply teachers.

~ Successful teaching experience and positive references.

~ Excellent organizational skills.

~ Positive communication skills.

~ Capacity to work collaboratively as a member of a team.

~ Must have knowledge or familiarity with the subject(s) to be taught; knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective teaching.

~Complete CIS Child Protection Training.
